Stewardship

“Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.”

Proverbs 3:9

EFG is committed to honoring our holy God with the material prosperity he gives to us.  Our expectation is that all Christians give—first to their local church, secondly to other missions and social causes.  How much should we give? 10% of our income is the Biblical baseline, but God may lead some of us to other amounts.  We know from God’s Word and experience that giving is critical for strengthening our devotion to God and helping spare us from the love of money.

EFG is committed to being a financially transparent organization.  All of our income and expenditures are fully disclosed on our website for participants in our fellowship.  Simply enter the password, which is available upon request to everyone in our fellowship, to see all the financial information.

EFG is committed to honoring God by how we spend what He provides.  How we have arranged our budget is meant to reflect God’s expectation of his children to be both responsible and faith-driven in how they deal with money. In making this budget we have also sought to value what the first churches in the New Testament valued.

  1. First, we pay The Bridge Club of Guadalajara for the rent of their building. This is 2,000 pesos per month.
  2. Second, we provide for the costs of childcare and children’s education materials. This amount varies depending on how many children are in our church.
  3. Third, the remainder is divided as follows:

· 60% for supplies for EFG—cookies, coffee, music equipment, supplies, etc.

· 30% for benevolence needs within the EFG church family.

· 10% for spreading the gospel through missions outside of EFG.

Note 1:

Think of numbers 1, 2, and 3 as buckets, and think of people’s offerings as water.  When bucket 1 is full, money begins to fill bucket 2.  When bucket 2 is full, money begins to fill bucket 3.  When money enters bucket 3, the amount is split into the three categories, according to a 60, 30, 10 ratio.

Note 2:

No EFG offerings are for salaried positions.  This includes Pastor Ray, who is funded completely from supporting churches in the United States.
